The Perfect Sunday in Grand Cayman: A Local’s One-Day Itinerary

Start Your Sunday Morning at Seven Mile Beach

Wondering how to spend a Sunday in Grand Cayman? This relaxed one-day itinerary combines a morning on Seven Mile Beach, Sunday brunch, an afternoon at a beachfront bar and gelato in Camana Bay. Although Grand Cayman is relatively small, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a full day here—and Sundays have a special pace of their own.

On Sundays in Cayman, the pace tends to slow down. For most, a walk on the beach, a morning workout, a dip in the sea, a little time in the sun, brunch, or simply spending time with loved ones is usually involved. There’s never really a need to have every hour of the day planned out to a T, because somehow, a good time is almost always guaranteed.

A little planning will help the day feel as relaxed as it should. Start early to enjoy a quieter stretch of Seven Mile Beach, check Sunday opening hours directly with each venue and reserve brunch in advance when possible. Bring swimwear, sun protection and comfortable footwear for the walk along the beach and over to Camana Bay.

For us, the perfect Sunday is pretty simple: good food, good friends and family, plenty of time in the water, a little drive around the island, and something sweet to end the night.

There’s no better way to start a Sunday than with your toes in the warm sand as the island’s crystal blue water gently crashes over your feet.  Allow yourself to take a walk along Seven Mile Beach before the island heat really starts to set in. Mornings tend to be a little quieter and the water is usually calm but still inviting, giving you the chance to take your time, enjoy the beach before it gets busy, and have a mindful reset before the rest of your day gets going.

And honestly, if the water looks good, you’ll probably find it pretty tempting to jump right in. Whether that’s in swimwear, activewear, or even a comfy pair of PJs, just go for it. You won’t regret it!

Have a swim, float around for a while, and then head home to shower and get ready, because next up is arguably one of the most anticipated parts of a Cayman Sunday: brunch.

Sunday Brunch at Luca on Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

Brunch is a pretty big deal here in Cayman, and Luca is one of our picks when you’re in the mood for something a little more special. It’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up, gather around the table with good company, and settle in for a proper Sunday brunch.

With its beautiful beachfront setting and an impressive selection of food to choose from, Luca is one of those places where you’ll definitely want to arrive hungry. Sunday brunch here is all about indulging a little, slowing down and enjoying the experience, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself going back for seconds… or thirds.

Order a mimosa, enjoy the food and, most importantly, take your time. Brunch here isn’t really something to rush through, it’s part of the Sunday experience, and half the fun is sitting around the table talking long after you probably should have left.

Spend the Afternoon at Jack’s Beach Bar

Once brunch is over, it’s time for a little outfit change. Swap the brunch clothes for swimwear and make your way down Seven Mile Beach towards Jack’s Beach Bar, a laid-back stop on Cayman’s beach bar scene.

The walk from Luca is all part of the experience, so there’s really no need to rush. It might sound like a bit of a trek after brunch, but we promise it won’t feel like one with Seven Mile Beach as your view along the way. Take your time, enjoy the scenery and before you know it, you’ll have made it to Jack’s.

Once you’re there, grab a drink and settle in wherever takes your fancy. Pull up a seat at the bar, grab a table, find a chair by the water or move between all three as the afternoon goes on. Have a swim, listen to the music, chat with the people around you or, if you somehow have room after brunch, feel free to grab something small from the menu to snack on. Otherwise, simply sit back and enjoy the afternoon.

There’s really no right way to spend a few hours here, and that’s kind of the point. After all, Sundays in Cayman aren’t really meant to be rushed. After a few hours at Jack’s, make your way across the road and look for the walkway to Camana Bay. The day isn’t over just yet though, there’s still time for something sweet!

Gelato at Camana Bay, Grand Cayman’s Town Centre

Stop at Gelato & Co., where authentic Italian gelato is made fresh daily. Pick whatever flavour catches your eye and take your gelato with you for a walk around Camana Bay. Make your way towards the Harbour and find a spot by the water overlooking the little island. Sit for a while, finish what’s left of your gelato and simply enjoy the last bit of your Sunday before heading home.

And that’s pretty much it! Our idea of a perfect Sunday in Cayman.

Nothing overly complicated and definitely nothing rushed. Just good food, good company, plenty of time in the water and a day spent enjoying the island for what it is.

Sometimes, that’s really all you need!
